History
Coquetel Permanent Registered Kennels was established in 1967 by Julia and John Munro. Both working full time jobs, the hobby kennel focused on the showing and occasional breeding of quality Standard Poodles (from 1967), Pointers (from 1972) and Borzoi (from 1976). The death of Julia in 2019 marked the end of the Poodle and Borzoi breeding programs. Julia and John are lifetime members of the Canadian Kennel Club. Please see our legacy page for more information on our past.
Genevieve, Julia and John’s daughter, took over the Pointer breeding program in the 1990’s and, with her husband Andrew, has continued to breed occasional litters of Pointers, participating in a variety of dog sports in Canada and the USA.

Objectives for our Pointers
Our goal is to continue breeding happy and healthy Pointers who can enjoy success in the ring and field, as well as being wonderful and loving companions at home.
Here are some examples of our well-rounded Pointers:
Our goal is to continue breeding happy and healthy Pointers who can enjoy success in the ring and field, as well as being wonderful and loving companions at home.
Here are some examples of our well-rounded Pointers:
- Miyah was the first (and still is the only) Pointer in Canada to achieve her CKC OTCH (Obedience Trial Champion designation) which she completed in 2015.
- Fiona was a higher energy dog that led to our branching out into other sports (besides conformation) and she was the first Pointer in Canada to complete a Rally title.
- Theoden loved people, having gone to work with Genevieve when she was working in a vet clinic. This afforded him some great instincts around people and other animals (canine, feline and equine) and after retiring from the show ring he joined his human dad Andrew as a St. John Ambulance therapy dog.
A word about Genevieve
Genevieve has the good fortune to work from home, as an artist and dog trainer. Genevieve is a CKC conformation judge and CKC member in good standing for over 20 years, is an executive member of the Pointer Club of Canada and Aurora Kennel Club, and is a member of the Oakville Kennel Club. She continues to train her dogs for conformation, obedience, rally, agility and the field while also regularly taking the dogs running (Canicross).
Genevieve's dog training classes (socialization, obedience, agility) have been temporarily put on hold due to COVID, but we hope to resume in 2022.
