SCROLL DOWN FOR 2022 LITTER INFORMATION!
What we want from our puppy buyers
The most important thing to us is for our dogs to enjoy their lives in great homes. Coquetel dogs have lived in Canada, the USA and Europe. Some enjoy shows or performance sports, but most important is that they are happy and well-loved members of the family.
Some of the most important investments that we can make (and insist on!) are:
What you can expect from us
Puppies are raised in our home with other dogs around and people coming and going (as much as COVID will allow!)
During their first 8 weeks, their diet slowly migrates from mother’s milk to solid food 4 times a day. This will be weaned down to 3 times a day when you pick up your puppy and we recommend eventually to twice a day. We recommend that Pointers remain on two meals a day for the duration of their adult life. This can help reduce the chance of bloating; not common in Pointers but can be more likely in active dogs with a single large meal daily.
We expose the puppies to different objects, noises and experiences, and they will have had some exposure to crate training and car rides before they go to their new homes.
When we choose to have a litter, this becomes our whole world and entire focus. We spend almost every waking moment with the puppies, or near them, and will offer our insights and observations when making a pairing of a puppy and its human family. We also engage an experienced third party (COVID permitting!) for temperament testing to further help us direct the right puppy to the right home.
When you pick up your puppy at 8 or 9 weeks of age, they will have been dewormed and had their first set of puppy shots. They will require a second set of shots at 12 weeks and a third set at 16 weeks to be done by your veterinarian. Our veterinarian recommends separating their first rabies shot and giving it a bit later, at around 5 or 6 months of age, if possible.
Puppies are microchipped and registered with the CKC on a non-breeding contract.
We provide a health guarantee and are here to offer support and assistance. We will send you home with a sample training schedule and supplementary reading list. We require that puppies are not spayed or neutered until they are at least a year old, this allows for proper physical development.
If unexpected events force your situation to change and no longer be able to keep the dog, then we will take it back and provide a good home. It is not something that people like to think about, but we do not want our dogs ending up in a shelter or in a challenging environment.

Some of the most important investments that we can make (and insist on!) are:
- Good veterinary care including recommended inoculations
- A fenced-in yard or alternative safe place to exercise (we are not in favour of off-leash dog parks)
- Puppy to be crate-trained, giving it a safe place to eat, sleep and travel
- Puppy socialization classes (basic obedience) within the first 6 months
- The Pointer is an integral member of your family, but if circumstances change, that you return the dog to us for re-homing.

Current litter plans (2022) *UPDATED!*
We are expecting a litter between Sabrina and Knox, with a due date of late May, puppies ready for collection late July!
As with any of our litters, Dam and Sire are checked for various health issues, including those recommended by the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals).
“Sabrina” GrCh Coquetel Tukeglen PrettyInPink AGNJS, SGDC, NTD
(out of Am Ch & HIT/Can Ch/UKC BIS Ch Coquetel Cowboy Casanova Am/Can CD, Am RN, Can RA, JH, FDJ and Aus/Am/Can Ch Ponsonby Aristar At Tukeglen JH, FDJ)
"Knox" Hawkfield Opportunity Knox
(out of Hawkfield Audacity JW and Hawkfield Voodoo Doll)
Sabrina has beautiful English breed type and a clever and affectionate nature. She is quick to learn new tricks and exercises. She has proven herself in the show ring as a multi-group placing and group winning dog here in Canada and has earned both of her US major wins, needing a few single points to finish. She has obtained agility titles in both CKC and AAC and has earned her Novice Trick Dog title and she loves to go for long runs and hikes.
We have decided to mate her with Knox, who came to us from Wendy Gordon, Hawkfield Pointers (UK). We've been looking for a UK out-cross for years and we admire Wendy's approach and her dogs. Over the last year, we've grown to love Knox's wonderful playful manner and we look forward to showing him in conformation as we come out of the pandemic. Knox is also enjoying his agility classes and plans to begin trials in a year or two.
If you are interested in a puppy from this litter then please email us to receive a copy of our "Puppy Questionnaire" to begin a conversation.
